Terms & Conditions

Thank you for visiting A World of Furniture's (‘A World of Furniture’, ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’) Terms and Conditions. Our postal address is 2 The Wyndham Centre, Dairy Meadow Lane, Southampton Road, Salisbury, SP1 2JT.

These terms relate to orders made in any of our stores, online or over the telephone.

Please read carefully as once you have placed your order you will be bound by these Terms and Conditions, which shall prevail over any and all terms proposed by you.

Description of Products

1.1 We make every effort to describe products offered for sale as accurately as possible. However, due to continual product improvements and development by ourselves and our suppliers, we reserve the right to add, remove or amend products without notice.

1.2 Pictures and dimensions are supplied by manufacturers wherever possible and displayed by us in good faith. They should be used as a guide only. All of our furniture is made from natural wood and therefore appearances may vary. We also supply ranges that are rustic by design, involving man-made distressing techniques and antiquing. Knots, medullary rays and heavy graining are commonplace.

1.3 Many of our ranges are handmade and therefore there are varying tolerances, particularly where shelves, doors and drawers are concerned. If you are ordering an item where dimensions are critical, please contact us before ordering and we will make further enquiries on your behalf, as no two pieces will necessarily be completely identical.

1.4 Leather goods are made from natural leather and therefore will not always have a uniform colour or texture and may exhibit natural markings such as scars or variations in the grain.

1.5 Most of our products do not require home assembly. However, on occasions, to aid delivery, bulkier items may be supplied in sections. If you take advantage of our delivery service, these items (excluding bunk, guest and cabin beds) will be assembled for you. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure there is reasonable and safe access for the furniture being delivered.

If you decide to collect, we will provide as much help and advice as possible to aid assembly. If you subsequently require us to assemble furniture at your address, we will be pleased to do so for an additional charge.

1.6 All prices are inclusive of VAT, where applicable, at the prevailing rate and are subject to any promotional offer or discount.

1.6.1 A World of Furniture does not provide a VAT-free export service. All goods purchased from or collected from our stores are sold inclusive of UK VAT, where applicable. We do not offer VAT-free sales or VAT refunds for goods subsequently exported outside the UK.

1.6.2 We still offer VAT-free purchases on qualifying mobility furniture for customers with a medically diagnosed condition who meet the relevant UK VAT exemption requirements. Customers claiming VAT relief may be required to complete an eligibility declaration at the time of purchase.

1.7 We make every effort to ensure our prices are accurate. However, where a genuine pricing error has been made, we reserve the right to correct the error. If an order has been affected by an obvious pricing error, we may cancel the order and provide a full refund.

1.8 Full payment shall be taken at the time of order.

1.9 We reserve the right to cancel and refund any order where we are unable to fulfil it.

2.0 We endeavour to hold as much stock as possible. From time to time, we may need to order goods from various suppliers to fulfil your order. If goods are in stock, we will deliver as quickly as possible. Where goods need to be ordered, most products have a lead time of approximately 6–8 weeks. If you would like to confirm stock availability, please call before ordering and we will happily check for you.

2.1 We only deliver to mainland UK addresses.

2.2.1 You are responsible for providing safe and reasonable access from the public highway to the place of delivery. If our delivery teams deem access to be unsafe or hazardous, they may not deliver until safe access is provided.

2.2.2 Where, in the opinion of our delivery crew, there is a problem with access due to size, weight or other restrictions, delivery may be completed to the nearest safe and reasonable point. Any reasonable additional delivery or collection costs resulting from access issues may be charged to the customer.

2.3 Our delivery teams make every effort to arrive within an AM or PM time slot, which can be confirmed if you call the day before delivery. This is not a guarantee of an exact delivery time. The delivery team will also normally call approximately 30 minutes before delivery.

Customers who fail to keep to an agreed delivery arrangement may be charged a £50 redelivery/abortive delivery charge to cover the additional costs incurred.

2.4 For standard stock orders placed in store, we may allow cancellation within 10 days of placement without charge, provided the goods have not already been specially ordered, delivered or otherwise committed to.

For qualifying online or telephone orders, statutory cancellation rights may apply. These rights take precedence over any shorter cancellation period stated in these Terms and Conditions.

2.4.1 Custom, made-to-order or specially ordered products may be subject to a cancellation charge once the order has been processed with the manufacturer or supplier. This includes products ordered to a customer's particular specification, configuration, finish or upholstery requirements.

Where there is no statutory right to cancel, we may charge up to 30% of the invoice total to cover reasonable costs and losses incurred as a result of cancellation.

2.4.2 Where a return or cancellation is permitted, the customer may be responsible for reasonable delivery and collection costs. These costs may be higher than our standard delivery charges.

2.4.3 For health and hygiene reasons, we are unable to accept returns of mattresses once they have been unwrapped, except where the mattress is faulty or the customer's statutory rights otherwise apply.

2.5 All furniture from us comes with a standard 1-year guarantee against manufacturing defects, unless otherwise stated. Should a problem manifest itself within this period, the furniture will be repaired or replaced at our discretion. This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights.

2.6 The guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear or the natural characteristics of wooden products, including movement, knots and variations in grain. It also does not cover neglect, misuse, unauthorised repairs, accidental damage or damage caused by fire, smoke, water, lightning, sunlight, weathering, rust, corrosion, theft or explosion.

2.6a Unless otherwise agreed, the guarantee is for normal domestic use and does not cover use in a trade or commercial environment.

2.7 In the unlikely event that goods are damaged on arrival or during delivery, we will deal with the matter in accordance with your statutory rights and, where appropriate, arrange repair, replacement or refund.

2.8 We will not be liable for reasonable delays in delivery caused by unforeseen circumstances beyond our reasonable control, or for reasonable rescheduling of deliveries.

2.9 In the unlikely event that there is an issue with your goods on arrival, please notify us as soon as possible. We ask that delivery damage is reported within 7 days and supported by photographs where possible. This does not affect any statutory rights you may have.

3.0 Every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of our website. However, product details, availability and prices may change from time to time and errors may occur. We will use our best endeavours to rectify any errors as swiftly as possible.

3.1 Spend and Save 'Voucher Savings' scheme. Voucher savings are not redeemable on discounted stock or promotional items. All vouchers are accepted at our discretion and A World of Furniture reserves the right to refuse or withdraw a voucher where the terms of the promotion have not been met.

3.2 A World of Furniture processes personal data in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation.

3.3 We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection laws.

3.4 Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
