At A world of furniture we have worked hard to give the customer the very best of, product, service and of course price, and to that end we have produced this manifesto, A world of furniture‘s charter.

This charter does not just cover those specific ideals that A world of furniture likes to uphold such as providing the very best value for money, but also our promise to maintain a healthy relationship with the community on our own door step and beyond, we are successful and like to, whenever possible use the resources gained from this success to support local charities, projects and organisations but also to commit ourselves to helping the environment within the business and further afield.

As you can see we are committed to not only providing the best furniture, best prices, best service but also committed to giving our best back to the world outside of the business – we have been doing this for the last twenty years and by god we will continue to do it over the next 20!

A World of Furniture was started by husband and wife Mark and Lucy Hotson in a small unit in Salisbury near to Tesco's on the Southampton Road (which is now a little bigger and now consists of 2 units), Mark fondly recalls the moment of the first delivery which was on his own in an old transit van (we all have to start somewhere!).

He and Lucy have now expanded this business to 4 stores, Salisbury (by Southampton Road Tesco), Poole (by Nuffield Trade Centre Toys R Us), Blandford (off of Holland Way) and now at Chandlers Ford (School Lane opposite Peter Greens), this is combined with some generous warehousing to keep us all stocked up with plenty of oak and pine for those speedy deliveries.

We are a very close knit team with many staff having worked for Mark for well over 15 years, many of us starting out from the Salisbury store when it first opened, which leads to a great atmosphere inside each of the branches.

As the name suggests one of our aims is to provide a huge selection of different types of furniture from around the globe, but the main aim is to bring good quality furniture at affordable prices with the minimum of fuss or wait to all of our customers online or instore.

Unlike many of its competitors the website is backed up by over 20 years of knowledge, over 100,000 square feet of warehousing and some of the largest oak and pine showrooms in the UK. Also we do not rely solely on imports, we have many suppliers in our portfolio with many from the UK this allows us to provide the very best in oak, pine or painted furniture and also the ability to provide made to measure items too.

With many manufacturers and suppliers like Besp-oak, Contempo, Tellow Furniture Design, Devonshire Pine, Kettle Containers, Phoenix, Habasco, Smart Trading, Real Solid Wood and many others, there is a wide variety of solid oak furniture, for example Newland Oak, Vancouver Oak, Rustic Oak, Opus, Siena, Salisbury, Trend, Torino, Canterbury, Woodpecker, to name a few but also a huge selection of the more traditional solid pine furniture, Richmond, Tarka, Badger, Chunky,  Portland, Meadow, to mention only a few, but as always at A world of furniture this list is not definitive and is constantly growing!

This is also combined with a selection of other hardwoods from around the globe , prints and pictures, carved items, rugs, lamps, basket ware many items that will never make it onto the site but are available instore, we are confident that you will be able to find everything you will need for your home.
