Quality is often a huge determining factor, the perception of which varies from customer to customer and is often directly related to price, but not always. The quality of anything is often determined by the sum of all its constituent parts. The best quality is determined by the best materials, the best process of manufacture and the best finish. Remarkably we often associate quality (without considering a furniture's constituent parts) with price and brand . A mistake easily made and yet it is definitely worth looking beyond price and brand to actually determine a products real quality.
Price and affordability are the key to retail and getting the right price furniture is one of the most important factors in determining the suitability of a piece of furniture. It is obviously a foregone conclusion to relate price both quality, size and material. However at A World of Furniture our aim is to provide furniture at the best price possible. This enables us to provide the best furniture at the best/lowest prices . High prices don't have to mean quality furniture.
In addition to your statutory rights as a consumer, A world of furniture also offers a free, 28 day peace of mind guarantee. Let us know within 28 days from the date of delivery if you are not totally satisfied with your purchase and we will collect it with no questions asked.
In return we will issue a credit note for the furniture, less our costs for collecting* and returning it to Salisbury. Please note, we can only extend this offer to our self-assembly furniture if it has not been assembled and is still in its original packaging.
This offer only applies to goods that are undamaged and in re-saleable condition, as checked when delivered to the customer.
*Collection may be charged at the full cost rather than the subsidised rates charged for delivery.

Product guarantee
All furniture from A world of furniture comes with a 1 year guarantee against manufacturing defects. Should a problem manifest itself within this period the furniture will be repaired or replaced.
Replacement of damaged goods
Goods that are damaged on arrival with the customer will be replaced at no additional cost. It is in the customers own interests to unwrap and fully inspect all furniture at the time of delivery.
Customers have up to 7 days following delivery to report damage, but claims must be supported by photographs and it is the responsibility of the customer to show the damage has not been caused by any misuse or mishandling following delivery. All claims must be supported by photographs.
Delivery
All items featured on this web site are normally delivered to the customer within 6 – 8 weeks. Furniture delivery quotes refer to the maximum time anticipated for customers’ furniture to arrive from the manufacturer to the warehouse of A world of furniture. In all cases delivery quotes are not guaranteed but should be regarded as a guide to the anticipated waiting time under normal circumstances.
Charges for not Receiving Delivery
Our delivery teams make every effort to arrive within the notified time slot of at least AM or PM which will be determined when the customer calls the day before delivery. Customers who fail to keep to this agreed period to receive their furniture waste time and fuel, creating unnecessary expense and delay for other customers. We therefore regret that we must levy a £50 charge on customers who fail to keep to their delivery arrangements.
Vehicle Access
Please help us to ensure a satisfactory delivery by telling A world of furniture if you think a large vehicle might have difficulty reaching the address. This could be because of factors such as narrow roadways, tight corners or low trees, cables or building overhangs. We believe it is better to agree an alternative delivery destination in advance, rather than have our customers suffer delays, inconvenience and the additional cost of the unsuccessful delivery.
Goods delivered by A world of furniture will be placed in the customer’s preferred room, provided that reasonable access is available.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the furniture they purchase can pass through the doorways, hallways, rooms and staircases to the room of their choice. In the event of restricted access the delivery staff will leave the goods at the nearest convenient point for the customer.
It will not be the responsibility of A world of furniture to deliver, unpack or assemble furniture in locations that have no reasonable access for the items being delivered.
A residential phone number must be provided for all orders placed, and this number must be for the address on the order, and in the name of the person placing the order. It would also be beneficial to have a mobile phone number where ever possible.
Protection of carpets and flooring
Staff making deliveries are required by law to wear protective footwear at all times. As they are not allowed to remove this footwear when unloading the vehicle, gaining access to the property, or carrying furniture into the property, we strongly advise customers to make proper provision to protect their carpets and flooring. We do not accept responsibility for any marks or damage that may inadvertently be caused by delivery staff during the normal course of their work.
Delivery of large items
Larger items, such as wardrobes will come to our warehouses fully assembled but A world of furniture will be able (for the majority of the wardrobes) to dismantle and rebuild in the room of your choice, tables will always come with the legs detached and again we will assemble these on site.
Beds do come to us in a “flatpack” form i.e. Head end, foot end, side rails and slats, if assistance is required to build these then please call to discuss your requirements before ordering.
Delivery times
Every effort is made to make deliveries at the time arranged. However when making hundreds of deliveries every week, the difficulties caused by traffic congestion and weather conditions (including snow, ice, wind, rain and flood) can sometimes cause delays to these schedules. On some rare occasions permitted driving hours regulations may force these delays to extend overnight or longer. We regret we cannot compensate customers for delivery delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
Care, inspection and handling of goods
Wood will exhibit variations in colour, grain pattern and tone within individual pieces of furniture and between different items of furniture from the same range. This is not a fault but a natural characteristic of the material. Wood will also change colour as it ages. Again this is not a fault but part of the inherent characteristics of the material.
It is not unusual for wooden furniture to crack or split as the timber settles; this happens more frequently with waxed furniture and is completely normal.
Wooden furniture will swell in damp conditions and shrink in hot, dry conditions. The furniture we supply is not suitable for areas which attract strong sunlight and heat such as conservatories.
Waxed furniture requires regular wax treatments to preserve its appearance. The wax is merely a coating on bare wood, and as such the wood will exhibit shiny marks where the wax may have been rubbed. This is natural and unavoidable.
No wooden products are stain or heat resistant, although a lacquered product offers slightly greater protection.
No refunds will be payable for damage caused by mishandling furniture, misuse of furniture or the application of unsuitable coatings, polishes or abrasives.
Distressed furniture
Customers are required to familiarise themselves with what is commonly understood by the terms ‘distressed finish’ and ‘distressed furniture’ before ordering such items. These terms mean the goods will exhibit a variety of imperfections to the surfaces, such as cracked, flaking or incomplete paintwork or lacquer, marks, gouges, splits or cracks to the surfaces or any other blemishes deliberately intended to create a worn, aged or re-used appearance.
Painted furniture
Wood and wood-based furniture has inherent inconsistencies in the absorbency of its surfaces. It is inevitable therefore that this will result in some colour variations in the finish on mass-market painted furniture.
Knots are the marks where a limb or branch has been cut off when trees are converted into planks. In new timber, nutrients in the form of resin may continue to pass through these points for some considerable time, causing 'bleeding' through to the surface. This is a natural process and is more noticeable with painted furniture.
There are also variations in colour finishes as depicted on the internet due to technical factors, such a lighting of the furniture when photographed, editing of images and variations between video display units (VDUs).
Paint is normally only applied to the external surfaces of furniture. Internal surfaces will either be in bare wood or a thin or mist coat.
Website Prices
If a price has been shown incorrectly on the A world of furniture website, the company reserves the right to cancel any customer orders placed at that price and return in full any payment received.
Special orders
Goods which are ordered to a non-standard specification or finish cannot easily be offered for resale, so they are classed as special order items. Customers who cancel a special order are liable for the costs incurred by A world of furniture. This includes any carriage costs incurred or any charges made to us by the manufacturer.
All special orders i.e.made to measure are subject to a non-refundable deposit of 20%.
Variation of Terms & Conditions
A world of furniture reserves the right to change these Terms & Conditions at any time and without notice. You will be automatically bound by these modifications when you use the site, and should periodically read these Terms.
